COACHES BREAKDOWN EP 7: SPRINT FORM

Today on our coaches break down. We’re gonna be going over our sprint form and are running form specifically for sprints, not necessarily for our jogging.

There’s three major things that we wanted that we want to talk about today. We want to talk about the forward lean, your knee drive and your upper body movements.

FORWARD LEAN: Posture for your sprint is optimized with a slight forward lean. You do not want to be straight up and down and also do not want to be leaning too far forward impinging your hip during your turnover motion. Focus on keeping your back straight, head neutral with your spine (this will keep your head above your shoulders) and look straight ahead.

KNEE DRIVE: You should be getting parallel to the ground as you drive that knee up. That’s gonna maximize that power. This can only be accomplished with good posture. Your body should be in line with no “bubble butt” or break at the hips.

UPPER BODY: We want to make sure that we bent elbow that is at 90 degrees. Next we want to really relax the shoulders (we do not want to shrugging). The third thing is the motion of your arms. The hands should go Hip or side of the butt cheek to your cheek on your face keeping the elbow bent at 90 degrees the whole movement. A popular coaching cue that you may hear at Krave is Cheek to Cheek.

That’s the coach’s breakdown for today. Make sure that we’re concentrating in every single one of our sessions trying to get this form right every time, because it’s only gonna make you faster and more efficient on your sprints.
